Ocean Grove has a fascinating history in that visiting Methodist Ministers had envisaged building a settlement modelled on a religious settlement in New Jersey, USA, named Ocean Grove.
Our Ocean Grove is situated on the southern side of the Bellarine Peninsula. This vibrant township of approximately 10,000 residents has natural boundaries on three sides: the Barwon River to the West, swamp land flats to the East and Bass Strait to the South. Ocean Grove is approximately 20km from Geelong, 90km from Melbourne and 15km from the Queenscliff Ferry, which takes you across Port Philip Bay to Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula.
The summer traditionally heralds the arrival of many visitors who enjoy relaxing in the numerous camping grounds, holiday homes, motels, B&B’s and a variety of self contained accommodation.
Ocean Grove’s safe surf beach attracts the surfers, the body boarders, the swimmers, the surf fishermen and the bathers; all seeking the ultimate experience in this precious part of the world.
Other beaches in the area offer different aspects of beach enjoyment. Added benefit to the area is the Ocean Grove /Barwon Heads River estuary ; a perfect spot for fishing and sunbathing
The cyclists and walkers have kms and kms of bike and walking tracks in and around Ocean Grove to explore and enjoy.
